Bill and I wish to thank you all most sincerely for the exemplary care over the past three years of our cherished mother, Muriel. We are so thankful we found Pioneer Elder Care when we did in September 2016.
The home model is ideal for those who suffer from dementia. A small, family-like environment, where daily routines and friendly faces are consistent, provides a sense of safety, security and belonging for residents. The outdoor access to the lush green backyard and shady veranda were definitely a pleasant rest area for residents and visitors alike. It was heartwarming to know my mother’s bedroom door opened onto the living and dining rooms and the kitchen where she could hear the comforting sounds of the hustle and bustle of “family life”, resident and staff conversations, meal preparations underway and the soothing sounds of familiar music, movies, and television series playing.
Throughout her three years at Pioneer, we were especially impressed with the quality of care of all staff to the residents. The work of the PSWs is particularly challenging. The Vine Street PSWs, however, make Pioneer a very special place for residents to live out their lives. With the physical dependence of residents on staff for transfers from bed to wheel chair, to bathroom etc., assistance needed with feeding and hydration and the unique frustrations of intimate care, the PSWs were consistently warm and smiling, liberal with hugs and affection and were unwaveringly patient with residents. This made us feel very confident to leave our mother in their daily care.
We extend our heartfelt thanks also to the nursing and medical staff at Pioneer for their compassionate and competent care of Muriel and the regular communications and updates to us about her status. Thanks to Nancy, always warm and friendly, for planning and implementing her creative and fun activities, welcome distractions for residents and to Wilson for his helpful organizational contributions.
We will greatly miss our visits to the Vine Street home, residents and staff, where we have come to know and care for them all. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all.
